R & D Technician

Open Position - R&D Technician


A position is open for an R&D Technician. Experience with plumbing (with pipe and tube bending a must), metal fabrication, assembly, laboratory test set ups and testing related to thermal, fluid and/or power systems.  The position requires a dynamic, hands on shop/lab technician, with 4-8 years experience with thermal, energy, automotive or power systems.  Experience with high temperature reactors, and combustion is a plus.


Selected Job Responsibilities Include:


                Responsible for fabrication and assembly of certain Altex designed prototype components and systems, using Altex shop or outside resources

                Leak testing tube, piping, valves, and flanges using Swagelok fittings or common tube and pipe

                Assisting engineers in the design and fabrication of test set-ups

                Responsible for procurement of test set-up components, and interacting with inside and outside resources

                Responsible for running experiments, logging data and taking notes




                4-8 years related work experience

                Skilled in documenting activities and maintaining records and using common PC programs (MS Office)

                Ability to use shop hand and power tools

                Good communication and team working skills

                Ability to work in a rapid pace environment

                Ability to read mechanical drawings and build from hand sketches

                Electrical wiring experience a plus but not required
