Altex is developing high performance heat exchangers and thermal management systems, for use in military and commercial energy and power markets. The military product line is growing substantially, and a position is open for a dynamic candidate, with engineering background, to direct the assembly of this MIL-SPEC product line by managing the suppliers, contract manufacturers and assemblers, to ensure that the product meets the quality and the specifications, for shipment to the customer. The interaction with suppliers requires experience with Solidworks, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), manufacturing and bonding of metallic components in a high temperature environment, QMS, ISO 9001 and MIL Spec requirements. The position requires, at minimum, a BS in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering, with over 2-10 years of experience. Position and responsibilities will be based on candidate review.

Job Functions

The candidate who shows superior capabilities in some or all of the below job functions will be considered:

·                Hands on system or component assembly and delivery, which meets quality and CMM requirements, especially for the military market

·                Managing suppliers and contract manufacturers, for on time delivery and process improvements

·                Solid modeling and design, using SolidWorks, including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)

·                Production of complete solid model designs, and drawings that meet documented hardware requirements

·                Complete changes to drawings, documentation, and work instructions through ECOs process

·                Performance of product/process analyses for cost reduction, and quality and efficiency improvements.

·                The design, manufacture and testing of special tools, fixtures, etc. for use in various stages of the production process

·                Review of hardware defects, and identification of systemic root causes and process improvements

·                Quality and ISO 9001 leadership or maintenance

·                Production of reports, test procedures and results, and data analysis

·                Assisting in the development of new product lines

·                FEA, CFD, and thermal analysis

Experience and Skills Required

·                Bachelors or Master Degrees in Mechanical, Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering

·                Two years, or more, related work experience

·                Previous experience with system or component assembly and delivery

·                Solid modeling experience, with GD&T and shop interaction

·                QMS and ISO 9001 experience

·                Previous experience with heat exchangers, cooling, heating or power systems

·                Skilled in the design of systems, and validation testing in lab or field test environments

·                Skilled in documenting activities and maintaining records

·                Ability to manage time, resources and staff

·                Ability to direct technicians

·                Good communication and team working skills

·                Comfortable working in a rapid pace environment, and handling multiple projects, simultaneously

·                Experience working in an ISO 9001 certified environment

·                Familiarity with coordinate measuring machine (CMM) equipment

·                Familiarity with welding processes for steel and aluminum

·                Experience with Solidworks PDM Standard 2018 a plus
